HPD Criminal History Records for East Honolulu

Honolulu Police Department website

The HPD website at honolulupd.org covers Records Division contacts, police reports, and department resources for all Oahu communities including East Honolulu.

The Honolulu Police Department provides law enforcement coverage for East Honolulu through district patrol operations. HPD does not maintain a separate records office for East Honolulu. All criminal history printouts and police report requests go through HPD headquarters. That office is at 801 South Beretania Street, Honolulu, HI 96813. The main non-emergency line is (808) 529-3191.

For criminal history specifically, HPD's Records and Identification Division handles requests. That division works as a Public Access Site under the Hawaii Criminal Justice Data Center program. You can walk in and request a conviction history printout for a $25 fee per person searched. Hours at the Records and ID Division run Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 4:00 PM. Call (808) 723-3258 to confirm before you go.

East Honolulu residents who want to check their own criminal history or get a record for a lawful purpose can go directly to HPD. Bring valid photo ID. Staff at the Records Division can run the search and give you a printed result the same day. That printout reflects conviction records in the HCJDC system.

The Hawaii Criminal Justice Data Center is the state's main criminal history repository. It holds records from all counties, including Honolulu. East Honolulu residents who need a state-level criminal history record rather than a local HPD printout should contact HCJDC directly. The main office is at 465 S. King Street, Room 102, Honolulu, HI 96813. Call (808) 587-3279 for criminal history questions. Office hours run Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a lunch break from noon to 1:00 PM. The office is closed on state holidays.

HCJDC maintains a list of Public Access Sites across the state where anyone can walk in and request a conviction history check. Several of these are on Oahu, including HPD headquarters mentioned above. Depending on where you are in East Honolulu, one site may be more convenient than another. All Public Access Sites pull from the same HCJDC database, so the record you get is the same regardless of which site you visit.

Hawaii eCourt Kokua system availability page

The eCourt Kokua system availability page shows when the Hawaii state court records portal is online for public use.

East Honolulu residents who prefer to search criminal history without going in person can use eCrim, the state's online background check tool. The site is at ecrim.ehawaii.gov. A name search costs $5. An official criminal history report costs $12. Both are paid by credit or debit card. eCrim pulls data from HCJDC and returns results based on what is in the state's system at the time of the search.

eCrim is a good starting point for East Honolulu users who want a fast result. Keep in mind that court records submitted recently may not have been processed into the HCJDC database yet. For records where completeness matters, an in-person request at HCJDC or a Public Access Site is more reliable. The eCourt Kokua system, shown above, is the court side of Hawaii's online records access and shows case-level information for criminal and civil cases statewide.

East Honolulu Court Records Access

East Honolulu falls under the First Circuit Court system, which covers all of Oahu. Criminal cases from this area may be heard at Ka'ahumanu Hale (the main circuit court at 777 Punchbowl Street, Honolulu) or at the Kaneohe District Court, depending on the charge level and jurisdiction.

The Kaneohe District Court serves East Honolulu and Windward Oahu. It is located at 45-939 Pookela Street, Kaneohe, HI 96744. Call (808) 534-6300 for case information. Court hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Public access terminals are available in the main entrance lobby on the right side before the security station. These terminals let you search case records by name or case number at no charge. Copies of documents carry a per-page fee.

You can also search court records online through the Hawaii state court records search portal. That system covers all circuits and allows public searches by party name. Results include case numbers, charges, hearing dates, and current case status. For full case files or certified copies, you need to go in person to the relevant courthouse.

Public access terminals at First Circuit Court locations are described on the courts.state.hi.us public access page. That page lists terminal locations and what types of records you can access at each one.

Other East Honolulu Criminal Record Resources

The Sheriff Division for Oahu handles state law enforcement matters and can be reached at (808) 587-5002. The Sheriff Division's Oahu Section is at 715 S. King Street, Suite 410, Honolulu, HI 96813. If your records request involves a state-level matter or civil process, this office may be the right contact.

The Hawaii Department of the Attorney General maintains a resource page for frequently called numbers, which is useful if you are not sure which office handles your request. That page is at law.hawaii.gov. It lists phone numbers for HCJDC, the Sheriff Division, the Narcotics Enforcement Division, and other state agencies that handle criminal justice matters.

Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 846-2.7 sets the rules for who can access criminal history records and for what purposes. The full text is available at Justia's Hawaii statutes page. Reading that section can help you determine whether your request falls within the authorized uses under state law. Most public access requests for conviction history are covered, but non-conviction records and arrest-only records carry different rules.

East Honolulu does not have a separate police precinct or records office. All records requests, whether for criminal history or police reports, route through HPD headquarters at 801 South Beretania Street. Plan accordingly if you are coming from the east end of Oahu, as the drive to downtown Honolulu may take time during peak traffic hours.
