Waipahu Criminal Records at HPD

The Honolulu Police Department is the main law enforcement agency for Waipahu and all of Oahu outside state jurisdiction. HPD handles criminal history and police report requests through its Records and Identification Division. The division is not located in Waipahu itself. You go to HPD headquarters in downtown Honolulu for walk-in requests. Most Waipahu residents find it easier to call ahead before making the trip.

HPD headquarters sits at 801 South Beretania Street, Honolulu, HI 96813. The Records and Identification Division can be reached at (808) 723-3258. Hours are Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 4:00 PM. If you just need general info, the HPD non-emergency line is (808) 529-3191. Staff there can often point you to the right office and tell you what documents to bring. Walk-ins are accepted during regular hours, but calling first saves time.

HPD is also a state-designated public access site for criminal history record checks. That means you can get a conviction history printout through HPD directly. The cost is $25 per printout. You pay at the time of the request. This option works well for people who want a quick same-day result and live nearby or can travel to downtown Honolulu without much trouble.

The Hawaii Criminal Justice Data Center, known as HCJDC, is the state agency that manages statewide criminal history records for all of Hawaii. For Waipahu residents, HCJDC provides two main ways to get criminal history information. The first is the eCrim online system. The second is a walk-in or mail request at the HCJDC office in Honolulu.

eCrim is the online portal at ecrim.ehawaii.gov. You pay $5 to run a name search and $12 to get a full criminal history report. The system is available online, which means Waipahu residents can check it from home without making any trips. Results are based on state records held by HCJDC and reflect arrests and convictions across the entire state of Hawaii, not just Oahu or Honolulu County. This makes eCrim the most thorough self-service option for a statewide search.

For requests that need more detail or for official purposes, the HCJDC office is at 465 S. King Street, Room 102, Honolulu. The phone number is (808) 587-3279. The HCJDC site at ag.hawaii.gov/hcjdc has forms, fee info, and instructions for both personal and third-party requests. Under Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 846-2.7, some agencies and employers can request criminal history directly from HCJDC with the subject's written consent. For most personal-use searches, eCrim is the faster choice.

Wahiawa District Court for Waipahu

Waipahu criminal cases are often heard at Wahiawa District Court. That court handles misdemeanor and petty misdemeanor cases from Central Oahu, including cases that originate in Waipahu. The courthouse is at 1034 Kilani Ave, Wahiawa, HI 96786. You can reach the court by phone at (808) 534-6200. Hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

The Wahiawa District Court lobby has public access computer terminals near the courtroom area. These terminals let you look up case records without printing or paying a fee. If you want a printed copy, clerks at the counter can pull records and make copies for a per-page fee. You will need to know the name of the person on the case or the case number. Staff cannot do broad open searches on your behalf, but they can look up specific cases when you give them enough information to work with.

For First Circuit court case searches online, the Hawaii State Judiciary has a public access portal at courts.state.hi.us. That system covers circuit and district courts statewide. Waipahu cases filed in the First Circuit are searchable there by party name, case number, or case type. The system does not always include documents, but it shows case status, hearing dates, and docket events.

Public terminals are also available at First Circuit courthouses in Honolulu. Details on those terminal locations are on the judiciary's public access terminals page.

Other Waipahu Criminal History Sources

The Hawaii Sheriff Division also handles some criminal justice functions on Oahu. The Oahu Section of the Sheriff Division can be reached at (808) 587-5002. The Sheriff Division is under the Department of Law Enforcement. It does not handle routine criminal history record requests the way HPD does, but it is a contact point for questions about state law enforcement records and court-related security functions.

For general legal questions or help finding the right number, the Hawaii Department of the Attorney General maintains a frequently called numbers page at law.hawaii.gov. That page lists contacts for HCJDC, the Sheriff, and other state justice agencies. It is a good first stop if you are not sure which office to call.

Waipahu residents who need criminal history records for legal matters should also know that attorneys and legal aid offices can sometimes access records on their clients' behalf. The HCJDC criminal history records check page explains the difference between personal checks and authorized third-party requests. Some requests require a signed consent form from the subject of the record.
